Last May 17, during the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (and other LGBTQ+ phobias), representatives from Montréal Pride and AlterHéros attended the 7th edition of Val d’Or Pride!
Over 200 people attended this ground-breaking event: a full evening which included a parade, presentations by representatives from the Val-d’Or LGBTQ+ and Fierté Agricole organizations, an indigenous song and drum performance, a short film, and a free community dinner.
Montréal Pride would like to congratulate both the citizens and public officials who took part in this historic moment. It is thanks to their hard work and dedication that events like these are made possible. We would also like to thank them for warmly welcoming Montréal Pride to their event, and for offering us a space to speak about our work as an organization and a festival.
Together, on this evening, we demonstrated our commitment and solidarity in fighting transphobia and homophobia (and related phobias), wherever and however they may manifest. We look forward to continuing to embrace the sexual and gender diversity of Québec’s people in the future years to come.
Congratulations again Val d’Or on this important and symbolic moment. You have worked hard for these accomplishments and we remain dedicated to supporting your initiatives.
